comparison with FNAC in patients who presented with n palpable breast lumps and undergone
US and FNAC examinations in SPHMMC.
Methods: conducted retrospectively on 38 patients who had presented with palpable breast
lump and had US and FNAC.
Result: Out of the 39 cases, 27 cases (69.2%) were valid and 12 cases (30.8%) were missing.
speculation has a 100% predictive value showing all cases with speculation were found to be
malignant. Acoustic shadowing has the least positive predictive value in our study. Combining
US features in diagnosing breast lumps in our study of the valid 27 cases 18 % (5) were found to
be malignant with FNAC also. And 74 %( 20) were benign. 7% (2) cases were diagnosed as
normal. The positive predictive and negative predictive values were found to be 97.06% and
88.89%, respectively.
