Background: In individuals infected with human immunodeficiency virus,
hematological abnormalities are associated with increased risk of disease
progression and death. The magnitude and severity of hematological abnormalities
in those patients who are taking antiretroviral drugs have been studied previously .
However this study will be conducted to determine the magnitude and severity of
anemia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia in HIV infected children who are
taking highly active antiretroviral therapy in St. Paul’s hospital millennium
medical college.
Objective: : The aim of this study was to determine the magnitude and severity
of anemia, neutropenia and thrombocytopenia in HIV-infected children after
initiation of ART .St. Paul hospital millennium medical collage
Material and methods: A cross sectional retrospective study was conducted
for the study period from March 2021 to July 2021 G.C. Data was collected using
a pretested and structured questionnaire. Patient card review was done.
Conclusion: ART positively or negatively affects the hematologic profile of
HIV- infected children. The current study demonstrated the hematologic profile of
this patients who took ART minimum of 6 months.
