Abstract

Executive summary This document contains a two and Half years Field Epidemiology Training Program outputs to be submitted to SPHMMC department of public health for fulfillment of masters degree in Field Epidemiology. It includes reports of diseases outbreak investigations, Health profile, public health surveillance data analysis, surveillance system evaluation, narrative summary of disaster situation report and thesis report. Accordingly, the document organized to seven (7) chapters. Chapter One: - contains disease outbreak investigations. I have conducted one-outbreak investigations as Principal investigator. The investigation was conducted using unmatched case control study design. All investigation report contains abstract, introduction, methods, discussions, conclusion, recommendations, acknowledgement and references separately. Chapter Two: - contains report of surveillance data analysis which was conducted on Analysis of typhoid fever Surveillance Data in woreda 10 of Arada sub city, 2006 E.C to 2008 E.C: three year data was used in the analysis. The objective of this study was to describe Typhoid fever distribution by person, place, and time and recommend possible solutions. Chapter Three:- addresses surveillance system evaluation entitled “To assess key attributes of Relapse fever surveillance system and Performance of the system in line with set objectives and operations of the system to generate evidence based information for the better improvement of the surveillance system. ” This chapter clearly presents the purpose and objectives of the Relapse fever surveillance and its progress towards its objectives. The surveillance attributes: simplicity, flexibility, stability, acceptability, representativeness, timeliness, data quality, sensitivity and predictive positive value were also assessed in the chapter. Chapter Four:-contains assessment of Health Profile Data Description of woreda 10, Arada sub city, Addis Ababa Region. In the chapter health and health related data of woreda 10 populations were evidently presented which is very imperative for prioritizing high-flying problems. It is basic for planning and undertaking appropriate public health interventions; and is door way point for operational public health researches. Stake holders of health and health related issues will access evidence based information from this chapter. X Chapter Five:-The sub city and woredas faced different challenges concerning communicable disease, natural disaster (fire accident, RTA and flooding). Since disaster management needs collaboration of different sectors, multi sectorial seasonal assessment in the sub city is mandatory for reduction or control of disaster situation. Chapter Six: - contains report of laboratory assessment, which was conducted on health centers in their laboratory unit of Arada sub city, Addis Ababa. The objective of this study was to contribute in ensuring appropriate and effective laboratory based planning and responses that leads to reducing morbidity and mortality in the assessed sub city. Chapter seven: - contains thesis report in the title “assessments of knowledge and utilization of partograph among midwives during monitoring of labour in public health center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 2017 G.C"
