Abstract
Abstract
Background: Lung cancers account for 2.2 million new cases and 1.8 million deaths worldwide.
Histopathology plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and management of lung cancers. With the
fact that the incidence of lung cancer is rising in Ethiopia along with other tobacco-related
cancers, identifying the commonest patterns and relation with clinical presentation is essential.
Objectives: To assess the histopathology patterns and clinicopathologic correlations of lung
cancers at Saint Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Dec 2018-
Oct 2023GC.
Methods: The study is a cross-sectional study was carried out at SPHMMC. It included all
patients who had lung biopsies and pathologically confirmed diagnoses at the hospital. The data
was collected by the primary investigator from the pathology unit’s database and the patient’s
chart through a structured questionnaire. Following this, the data was entered into SPSS version
25. Socio-demographic, histopathologic characteristics, and clinical findings were determined
using descriptive statistics. Logistic regression was used to determine associated risk factors. The
level of significance was determined at P<0.05.
