| dc.description.abstract | Abstract Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has a high global prevalence and incurs high burden to the healthcare system worldwide. In SSA chronic GN IS the commonest cause of CKD. In Ethiopia acute GN is commonest cause among patients requiring hemodialysis. In Ethiopia there are no studies on glomerular disease. Objective: Magnitude and outcome of glomerular disease among patients admitted to Saint Paul Hospital’s Millennium Medical College Methods: A cross sectional card review was used to assess the prevalence and outcome of glomerular disease among patients admitted with AKI from September 2016-september 2017 Result Glomerular disease accounts for 33% of patients admitted with AKI.86.4% are under age of 45years.68.5% presented with cr>3mg/dl.HD was provided in 40.9%.renal biopsy was done in only 34.1% of patients. Treatment response was seen only in 58.5% of patients Conclusion Glomerular disease accounts for significant proportion of patients admitted with AKI. It is mainly affects young people. Diagnosis and work up is inadequate in most patients contributing to poor outcome. | |
