ASSESSMENT OF KNOWLEDGE AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS ABOUT OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS AMONG NURSES IN THE OPERATING ROOM AT ST PAUL’S AND AaBET HOSPITALS.

Abstract

Abstract Good knowledge and understanding about occupational hazards have major roles in hospital promotion and maintenance of the highest degree of physical, mental and social well-being of workers in all occupations. Objective: To assess knowledge and associated factors occupational hazard among nurses in the operating room at S.t Paul’s and AaBET hospitals Methods: This study was conducted at health facility based cross sectional and was use quantitative method. Study populations were all nurses who are working in operation room at S.t Paul’s and AaBET Hospitals. The data was collected using structured questionnaire and will be analysis by using SPSS version 20.0. The results of this study will be mentioned by graph, table and figure. Study period: Study will be conducted in S.t Paulo’s and AaBET hospitals from June 1/2017 to August 30/2017. Result: Over all personal score regarding level of knowledge questions, 76(82.6%) and 16(17.4%) of the participants score greater than 20 and less than 20 respectively. Conclusion: Overall personal score regarding of the t knowledge questions, majority of respondents has knowledgeable this finding revealed nurses were working in operating theatre had experienced exposure to occupational health hazard. Recommendation: This finding suggests nurses were working in operating theatre were high chance of exposed to occupational health hazard.
