| dc.description.abstract | Summary Background: Rape is a major physical, psychological, social and emotional problem which is understated and under reported in many countries including Ethiopia, which made knowing the incidence difficult. Globally, factors associated with rape victimization are studied widely, and this research aims to know those factors in Ethiopian setting. Many suffer with the consequences of rape be it physical or psychological long after the event. And it is the other objective of this study to point out the common outcomes of the cases seen at the clinic. Objectives: The aim of this research is to determine the prevalence of rape among cases seen at SPHMMC, to determine factors associated with rape victimization and to assess the possible outcomes of rape victims. Methods: A retrospective, institution based study design will be employed to do the study and data collection will be, with a chart review by a structured, and pretested checklist. The sampling is using census method and a total of 157 charts will be reviewed. The study will take place on those clients who came to Michu clinic SPHMMC, between June 2008 and March, 2010 EC. The data will be cleaned, edited, coded and entered on SPSS version 21. Descriptive statistics (frequency and Cross tabulation) will be used to analyze the "prevalence" portion of the study and analytic study using chi square test will be used to study the presence of possible association between dependent and independent variables of the study. Further statistical tests (like logistic regression) would be considered to determine the level of association between variables whenever there is an association. Work-plan and Budget: The research will be completed over 9 months period by a schedule from the Department of PH. A total of 2732.2 Ethiopian birr is estimated to do the research, which will be partially budgeted by the research committee. | |
