2017 to June 2017 among preparatory students in Oromia region Bishoftu town Bishoftu
Preparatory School. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 360 students from 11
and 12 grades. Data were entered and analyzed by SPSS version 16.1.chi-square test was used to
assess the association between dependent and independent variables and p-value <0.05 was used
as a cut-off point.
Results: Three hundred two (87.7%) of students had ever discussed on at least two sexual and
reproductive health topics with their parents. There was no statistically significant association
between communication level and sex(p-value=0.363), ethnicity(p-value=o.191), parental
marital status(p-value=0.413), whom they are living with (p-value=0.245), as well as whether
they have had sexual encounter or not(p-value=0.291). There was statistically significant
association between communication level and respondents grade(p-value=0.000),religion (p
value=0.017), mother educational status(p-value=0.000), father educational status(p

,their attitude and behavior towards premarital sex acceptance (p-value=0.000), and acceptability
of sexual feelings during adolescence(p-value=0.000). Most of students feel comfortable to
